What is DICAFLOCK? DICAFLOCK is an organic material derived from wood pulp. it is practically ashless, and when bone dry, is at least 99.5% cellulose. It is non-abrasive and reasonably inert to most acidic and basic liquors. DICAFLOCK is available in a number of grades to provide optimum performance for the specific liquid being filtered. Important DICAFLOCK Filtration Advantages
|
| GRADES | TYPICAL APPLICATIONS |
|---|---|
| DF5, DF10, DF40 | Alkaline Chemicals: The filtration of alkalis when other principal filter aids (diatomite and perlite) cannot be used because of their silica solubility. Typical examples of such filtrations are strong alkaline solutions such as 50% sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate, preparation of alumina and plating solutions. |
| DF40, DF200 | Brine Filtration: In diaphragm and mercury cell chlorine caustic plants, brine is filtered with cellulose on pressure filters. |
| DF40, DF100, DF200 | Condensate: DICAFLOCK will effectively remove suspended metallic particles and absorb traces of oil contained in boiler condensate water, resulting in a very pure, almost solid-free filtrate. Other silica based filter aids have a slight silica solubility, making them objectionable for this use. |
| DF40 | Emulsions: DICAFLOCK will break emulsions of oil in water or the reverse and in cases where only traces of oil are emulsified in water, will absorb the oil very effectively, resulting in long cycles and high flowrates. |
| DF40, DF200 | Catalysts and Rare Earth Metals: Since DICAFLOCK is an almost ashless material, it is the preferred filteraid for the filtration of these materials, since they can be easily recovered from the fiber cake by combustion. This also applies to the filtration of some metallic ores, such as uranium, lead, titanium, tungsten, etc. |
| DF5, DF10, DF40 | Beer, Beverages, etc.: In these filtrations, DICAFLOCK is used as a precoat to avoid bleed-through of diatomite or perlite filter aids. A DICAFLOCK percoat permits very easy and rapid cleaning of the filters at the end of the filtration cycle, which will substantially reduce clean-up time. |
